David Seaman, of Arsenal, had got to within 20 seconds of a Penalty Shootout in the Cup Winners cup final of 1995 when Nayim, of Real Zaragoza hit this speculative effort which found Seaman adrift of his line, and slightly flat footed returning to turn the ball over. The end result being a spectacular goal.
Perhaps Seaman’s mind was on other things, namely the forthcoming penalties. This shot really was a bolt out of the blue, though.
Look at this collection of goalkeeping errors - some of these mistakes are incredible, there are a couple of repeat offenders, and it is a generally painful video to watch. fun all the same to realise that blunders and bloopers are a part of football - every good goalkeeper has come back from an error as bad (or worse) than many of these:

All of England are spending this summer thinking of higher things than football, as the side dramatically failed to qualify for Euro 2008. While Scott Carson is hardly responsible for the five game plus period of melancholy from the England team as a whole, that does not make this error any the more pleasant on the eye:

Shay Given has had a long career with Newcastle United, and has been perhaps the most consitant goalkeeper in the Premier League for the entire period. However, even he doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head.
You only make this sort of error once. Fortunately.
Fabien Barthez, not once, but twice gives his French countryman Thierry Henry a gift in this triple threat of goalkeeping madness. Man United fans never really forgave the ebulient Frenchman for these mistakes against their main league rivals Arsenal.

When England took on lowly Macedonia in the qualification stages of Euro 2004 (2002) David Seaman made his last performance in an England shirt after letting in this corner direct.
The man on the far post (Paul Scholes) makes a good job of ducking under it too - not a great natural instinct from your post man!
